When do waitlists generally start moving?

Hey guys, I'm wondering when we could usually expect most waitlists at schools to start moving? I'm planning a trip abroad for about 3 weeks, and I'd prefer it not to be smack in the middle of the waitlist avalanche (at least, as of now, because I have no idea how my top choices are going to turn out), but it seems like it's anywhere between End of April - May? Does anyone have a more specific idea?

I know they will usually call for an acceptance...so it's not like my cell phone won't work (it'd just be really expensive), and the time difference will mean that most calls would usually be made during the night anyway. If I do have to play the waitlist game from abroad, what are the tools I need besides a phone connection and (probably internet connection?)?? Thanks
