The way the 0 copay card works is first the primary insurance covers it and then the copay card brings the out of pocket cost to $0. If the primary insurance requires a prior auth. then the copay card discount won't be $0. It is possible that the primary insurance will reject saying try Adderall first.
It is true cvs calls all class 2 meds "narcotics". Evekeo and Adderall are technically stimulants but cvs calls them "N" for narcotics.
Only certain pharmacists can order the class 2 drugs. At some stores only the pharmacy manager can order them. If the pharmacy manager was using up vacation time bc it's the end of the year then it's possible it would be 2-3 weeks before the next narcotic delivery because only the manager or someone with power of attorney can order them.
No idea why the pharmacist told the patient to have you call in Adderall. Maybe patient misunderstood or the pharmacist is really dumb.
