Good program. Good training. You will meet wonderful people, and will grow into a seasoned officer!
You will focus on your residency training. You will not be required to do UTAs (the once a month weekend drills) or ADTs (annual two week duty tours).
You will, during your residency training, be "unitless." You will be attached to a "unit manager" at AFRC in Denver, CO--an office that will oversee you as a Select AF reservist.
From the time you get commissioned, the time will count as time in grade. You will also accumulate freebie 15 retirement points per year (during residency).
Once you complete your residency, the unit manger in Denver, CO, will send you a list of specialized regional medical recruiters who will assist you in getting you into an open slot in a unit closest to your liking (preferably in the vicinity where you wish to start working as a civilian doctor).
However, some folk can chose to work in LA (in CA) and wish to attach to a unit in Alaska (why folk do this...I don't know!)...meaning once a month, they get to fly to their unit in Alaska. For the ADT, one can chose to do it in any opening one wishes...worldwide--although, starting out a flight doc, you will have to do some mandatory AFSC trainings at a set location...that will then ultimately enable you to go do your annual tours anywhere you want.
Your unit will then send you to RCOT (you have 1 year to do RCOT after completion of your residency training).
