Hey, good luck, it's real tough coming from Ontario especially. I also applied to both Canada and US and it was a crapshoot. I must've applied to ~15-20 programs with a really strong app and most programs did not even reply. I went on my handful of US interviews in November. Canada only replied later on during the year. If I remember correctly I received 1 US interview later on, like January or so, but I couldn't go to it for personal reasons. I guess the bright side of the story is that I ended up getting accepted in the US in the end.
