Isn't it late for so much silence?

Hi all

I applied to many schools, and while I'm happy to have had 3 IIs and 1 acceptance, I'm just curious as to what is going on with some of the schools that have been silent. Of the 21 schools I haven't heard from, about half of them have been sending rejections, yet I'm still waiting to hear. Isn't it starting to be kinda late in the year? Do schools plan on making their final II decisions by the end of the year or so? Just surprised with all the silence. It seems like things are moving slower this year- perhaps due to the new MCAT?
