Howdy fellow Texan and welcome. It's actually quite easy to get a volunteer position in a local hospital or clinic by doing a little internet research. These positions usually require an application, background check, and some kind of interview or meeting. In my area, a few hospitals even list open positions and request your preferences on the volunteer application. Read the descriptions and ask for positions that have direct patient contact. I'd start by looking online for nearby hospitals that have volunteer departments. From there, try to network with the clinic staff for further opportunities.
My biggest piece of advice in getting clinical experience is to advocate for yourself. The first volunteer department I applied to was excruciatingly slow, so I followed-up for a few weeks. This led to me getting my first choice placement with direct patient contact and an eventual research opportunity. Later, when I met a friendly doctor at the clinic, I asked for their contact information and an opportunity to take them to lunch. The networking is incredibly similar to your previous business experience.
Good luck!
