Programs that interview a lot of applicants

I think the most competitive programs interview less applicants because those interviewees are ranked to match typically. The less competitive ones interview far more applicants. Sometimes, more competitive programs interview more applicants than necessary if their location sucks i.e. WashU and Mayo. Most IM programs are fairly large, and I think 300 is actually on the lower end from what I understand.
