Fellowship in England

Is it advisable to complete a sub-specialty fellowship outside the US if one intends to return to the US to practice? I understand not all training is equal regardless of the country. The motive is not secondary to anticipated match issues here, but rather to have a year or two abroad before settling down. Any advice is appreciated.
