If you would have rather gone unmatched than matched at a program you should have sabotaged your interview with them. Then you'd potentially be in a better place now, even if it was GMO land. I cancelled my intern interview with one program I didn't want to attend under any circumstances at 5pm the night before and didn't reschedule. Likelihood of matching there? Zero. But I ranked it like a good soldier.
